Aiming for the development of special and alternative forms of tourism, based on the specific natural and cultural features of the islands, the North Aegean Region participates with a stand at the international exhibition for alternative destinations, the Tour Natur tourism fair, in Dusseldorf from Friday September 2 to Monday, September 4, 2016.
Chios Island, confirming its identity as an alternative tourism destination in Greece, is participating to the said exhibition, looking to attract visitors from Germany who are interested to unveil an alternative destination, rich in culture, outdoor activities, incredible flora and fauna, medieval settlements and historical paths.
The fair offers a wide range of products and alternative tourism. Each year, more than 40,000 visitors visiting the exhibition center in Düsseldorf to get ideas and suggestions for walking paths and activities, hiking, sea kayak, trekking, culinary vacations and cooking classes and other outdoor activities and learn about traveling to different alternative destinations worldwide.
Chios is being represented in Germany with George Misetzis (Spitakia Bed & Breakfast – Avgonyma), Vasilis Ballas (Masticulture) and George Halatsis, a pioneer in designing and maintaining walking paths & routs in Chios.
